She would have sworn his lips didn't move. His voice was so gentle, warm, sensuous and intimate, as though he were inside her thoughts, her soul.

Then somehow, without moving, he had covered the space between them and stood next to her, pressed against her, leaning over her. His soft hair tickled her cheek. His breath whispered across her lips as he parted them with a flick of his hot tongue. The kiss was light, soft, then firmer and deeper, the deft movement filling her with the promise of such delights to come that her knees actually began to give way. He caught her, one of his arms bracing her at the deepest curve of her back, the other wrapped so that he cradled her neck in the palm of his hand.

Hillary has an agenda and not even an unplanned visit from the local vampire can sway her, but then there's the owner of the coffee shop chain who has an agenda of his own which includes Hillary, if he can get her to agree to his terms.

This book went way too fast - I was enjoying it so much I wasn't ready for it to end when it did. This is a story written with sharp, intelligent characters that grab you and take you along for a great ride. Add in a generous helping of steamy sex and you've got a winner in your hands.

I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Ms. Duarte's work.

Hilary Samuels is the manager for Café Lotti, the newest bar and restaurant in town. She has six months to make a success of the place to be eligible for a promotion. One night while driving home from work at one o;clock in the morning she fantasizes about making love.

When Nathan Sutton, owner and CEO of all the Café Lotti chain, appears in her restaurant, the assistant manager is not quite sure how to handle him. Nathan is easy on the eyes with short brown hair, blue eyes and a body to die for.

When a mysterious stranger approaches Hilary from literally nowhere, to assist her with a flat Tyre she angrily tell him, "he is too late". He however offers her help in another way; while mesmerizing her into unbuttoning her blouse. She notices fangs in his mouth and realizes he's a vampire, at the same time a chilling howl is heard which breaks through the daze her mind is in.

When a wolf comes menacingly toward Hilary, she looks back and the mysterious stranger had disappeared. when the wolf collapses at her feet, she puts him on her backseat and takes him home, intending to find a veterinarian in the morning. However when she wakes up the wolf is gone: She begins to wonder if this is real or did she sleep through her drive home?

RISE OF THE WOLF is an awesome read. I loved how she created a new theory for werewolves and their role against vampires. The book with all its twist and turn and great character, opens the possibility for an exciting series. It has action, passion and a happy ending. You can't ask for more except maybe another adventure with a werewolf like Nathan.
