Excerpt

"This.this Azo can simply show up from some other dimension and haul me off to hell to be his slave forever and there's nothing I can do?"

Okay, that came out more high pitched and panicky than I'd planned.

"It's why I'm here, Tali. To protect you, show you how to find and tap into power you can use to protect yourself."

"Well, shit. It was bad enough when I realized everything from vampires to werewolves were real. And now you're telling me I have to learn to use the essence of magic power to protect myself from the unseen things I thought were superstition? That's got to be the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard."

The Dark Lord was searching for Tali. She had powers she didn’t know about. Aiden was close by, watching over her. He still loved her but feared his presence would endanger her. The Texas Council of Vampires wanted him to convince her to help defeat the Dark Lord. When a shape shifter kidnapped her and offered her to a demon as a gift, Aiden came to her rescue.

Museums Are Murder by Carol Shenold is an entertaining paranormal mystery. This short tale is filled with twists and turns that you would normally expect in a full-length book. The characters are well developed. I do not usually read or enjoy vampire books; however, I look forward to reading more about Aiden and Tali.

When Tali agrees to help her friends with the Love County Museum opening, she is expecting a pleasant time with familiar faces—just maybe not as familiar as her former lover, Aiden Courtland. To add to her worries, there has also been a murder. Things start to really heat up when Aiden reveals that a demon wants to cart Tali away to another world—permanently. Now she must face her own powers as well as a were wolf and a demon in order to keep her family safe.

I don’t read many paranormal tales, but this one drew me right in. The vampire, werewolf and demons were introduced so naturally I wondered if I should look over my shoulder to make sure they weren’t looking over my shoulder while I read about their story.

Tali Cates only partially believes in the supernatural, despite the fact she fell in love with Aidan, a vampire. Aidan left her without an explanation and since then she has tried to live her life without paranormal distractions, but the Dark Lord has other ideas for her future. Aidan returns to help her fight the Dark Lord, but at first he doesn’t let Tali know he’s back.

A murder happens at the museum and Tali finds an emerald and diamond necklace on the body. Distracted by all that is happening around her, she slips the necklace into her pocket. Late at night she returns to the museum and finds an identical necklace hidden in a picture frame. Jesse, a shapeshifting werewolf, confronts her demanding she hand the necklace over. Aidan appears to save her and tell her the reason he he has returned, but Tali is not sure she wants to allow him back into her life.

Despite the werewolves, vampires and demons, this is a lighthearted story which I thoroughly enjoyed. The length was enough to whet my appetite for more, and I will be watching for more paranormal tales by Ms. Shenbold.

They say every myth is based on reality, and Tali Cates has found out just how true that saying is. Her Mother, fondly called “Mumsie”, is constantly babbling on about spirits and the supernatural. Tali only halfheartedly takes in Mumsies warnings. After secretly investigating a murder at the museum, Tali is in for a fight for her own preservation. It isn’t until Aiden, the sexy vampire, teaches her to draw on her own special powers to protect herself from demons and werewolves that Mumsie’s prophecy comes to light.

What a little gem! This book proves you don’t need a lot of words to make a great story with equally great imagery. Many of us have a busy lifestyle with little time to read, but Carol Shenold has solved that problem. This short book is packed with action, passion and the creatures of our nightmares, making it the perfect read for the subway ride, the waiting room, or that quick read before drifting into dreamland.
