Amazing Grace by Ginger Simpson

Summary

Grace Arbon can't seem to find a man who satisfies the stringent requirements of her father, the mighty Wallace Arbon. But at her best friend's wedding, Grace realizes the man of her dreams should live up to her standards and not those of her father. When Blake Hastings invites her to take a turn on the dance floor and then out on a date, she discards daddy's white-collar standards and makes a check list of her own. Blake is everything Grace ever dreamed of, but will she break her father's heart in an attempt to fulfill her own?

Excerpt

A noise drew her attention to the front window. She watched an old, faded pick-up truck sputter up the driveway. A spiral of smoke followed it but dissipated when the vehicle stopped on the circle in front of the house. "Blake's here. I won't be late." She smoothed her dress and waited for the knock.

Her father stood and peeked through the curtain behind his chair, then shook his head. "I can't believe you want to be seen in that.that horrid excuse for transportation. At least let me have Maynard bring the Mercedes around. He can drive you."

She squared her shoulders. "Daddy, please. Lower your voice, and be polite. Maynard's services are not necessary."

Her heart warmed when she opened the door and found Blake standing on the doorstep. Dressed in nice slacks, a powder blue shirt with a logo drawing attention to his broad chest, and shoes so shiny she saw her reflection, he projected a persona of which anyone would be proud. But Daddy? Her first instinct was to take Blake's arm and dash to the truck, but she smiled and opened the door wider.

"Won't you come in?"

Amazing Grace follows the lovely tale of a young woman named Grace who is trying to appease her father. Unfortunately, Grace has not had any luck appeasing her father with the men she has brought home until she meets the handsome Blake Hastings. Grace and Blake fall head over heals in love. Will it last or will Grace's father interfere?

I really enjoyed this story. It was heartwarming and a beautiful tale of love and where it can take you.

Author: Ginger Simpson From the first moment Grace had met Blake, she knew she had found the man she was destined to spend her life with. Ginger Simpson tells the story of Grace Arbon and her hidden love in 'Amazing Grace.'

Blake, a blue-collar construction worker, falls short in the eyes of Grace's father, but after a near fatal car accident, time is pressed to find a donor for her father. Grace leans to Blake for emotional support, as her father's chances are slipping, but finds he gives much more.

This is a sweet story of a young woman who finds romance away from her father's social preference, Grace's character show what most women would do for love. Simpson does take her readers through a short roller-coaster ride. This is well written overall, with the ending predictable. This is one of the stories that a reader will prefer the ending. It is a nice read with the characters introduced well. The plot would have developed more if there were more events taking place. Regardless, it is a good read and I would keep my eye out on this author.

Ginger Simpson’s Amazing Grace was a perfect short read for an afternoon. Her description of finding love was heart warming and brought a contented smile to me. Reminding me of the exhileration, we all have in a new romance with a wonderful person. She artfully showed that rich or poor doesn’t matter and love can endure challenges. Ginger wove in old adages of learning to break away from restrictions and expectations of an overly protective father while still being a loving daughter while staying true to your sweetheart. This contemporary story was sweet even though a touch predictable in the end but enjoyable none the less. This is a book I would share with my daughter.
